Dedicated to you, but you weren’t listening.

Where's waves?

The Tower that overlooks the Aberdeenshire village of Fetterangus.

One thing that I have discovered over the last 10 years at PomPrint is that if an idea doesn’t work, then replace it with something else until you are ready to try it again in a modified format. You will see from this bold statement that I am not the type of person who gives up easily, even when an idea that I think will work falls flat on its face. I tend to store the idea, work on it, and then bring it back again much bigger and better. It is for this reason that I have given our weekly “Where’s Waves?” competition a resting and replaced it with a new ‘draw’ type of contest on a temporary basis. Continue reading

Just for fun – Where’s Waves?

Unfortunately we have not had a great deal of success so far with our weekly “Where’s Waves?” competition, having had very few entries during the 5 weeks that it has been running. We have therefore decided to give it a rest until we come up with a better format or idea which will gain us a lot more interest. I appreciate, however, that some of our regulars enjoy the challenge the we set, especially those of you who are not resident in the North East of Scotland, and for this reason, I am posting this one “Just for Fun”, with no prizes on offer. The answer will be announced on Wednesday as usual.

Last week’s winner was Nigalius from St. Cyrus, who was to only person to correctly identify Rattray as the answer. Well done Nigel…I will sort out your prize shortly.

If you would like to enter this week’s ‘For Fun’ competition, please try to identify the town or village in which the photo below was taken and comment this post with “Waves have been to”.. followed by the name of the town or village. The correct comments will be revealed at noon on Wednesday.

Where's waves?

A Tower somewhere in Aberdeenshire, but what in the name of the town or village in which it can be found?

News on the future of the competition will be posted as soon as I have further information.

Bags of Fun on Waves Radio

As I will be away on annual holiday from tomorrow evening, I have had to change the format for the prizes on our weekly “Where’s Waves?” competition. This means that the winners for the next 3 weeks will have a choice of prizes.

Bags

A Collection of Kit Bags which are available to the winners of our weekly competitions on Waves Radio.

In order to make things as simple as possible, I have decided that we should avoid the issue of sizes (as for clothing) by offering variety of bags to the winners. We therefore will have a choice of sports kit bags and document bags available. These will include the Quadra Portfolio Briefcase that we described a couple of weeks ago, supplemented by three kit bags (including a very nice Nike golf bag) as can be seen pictured right.

Once again, we will be posting a location shot from a town or village in the North East of Scotland for you to identify. Last week, we had a winner from Plymouth, so I guess that the task should not really be that difficult for a local!

Full details will be available on this site, and on Waves from 6 pm tomorrow night, so make certain that you visit and enter! Even more important…make certain that you tune in the our “Into the Weekend” show…there is no excuse, even if you live in Plymouth, as it streams live from the Waves website.

“Where’s Waves?” – Last Week’s Answer and Winners

I was a little disappointed again this week that we only had two correct answers to our “Where’s Waves?” challenge so, once again, only two prizes have been claimed. The winners were James from Maud and Norman from Plymouth (yes, that Plymouth in Devon) who will be getting their Ping Polo Shirts as soon as they let me know the size that they want.

Week 2 Where's Waves

Collieston - Correctly identified by two entrants in last week's competition.

Given that a person from Plymouth managed to identify our location as Collieston, presumably by using maps and photos from the internet, it tends to indicate that the question was not overly difficult to answer, despite the poor turnout.

This week we will be giving you a choice of prizes, but there will only be a single prize on offer until participation increases so, come on guys, give it a go on Friday at 6 o’clock when I publish the next “Where’s Waves?” location shot!!
