Question: What do Jono Bacon, Ken Bruce, Mata Hari, Nicola Benedetti and Ludwig Van Beethoven all have in common?
Answer: They have all supported us and ‘Jog On’ to help raise £500 for CLIC Sargent – The Childrens’ Cancer Charity.
Last night I sent out a ‘Tweet’ to various celebrities asking them to retweet my appeal for support for the Jog On guys in Nottinghamshire. The 5 people mentioned, along with other, important but less well knowns, helped to create a great surge in interest in the event, giving us 250 hits on this blog today (and over 100 from 10 pm to midnight yesterday).
This is all well and good, but I am sorry to say that so far, only a handful of their followers on Twitter have visited the donation site, and even less have made a contribution.
Without trying to preach, I find it a tad disturbing that the great British public are more than willing to fork out £1 on a lottery ticket (with a 1 in 14,000,000 chance of winning) to benefit the likes of a corporation such as Camelot, than to give it to a cause directly that will benefit thousands of Cancer-stricken children in our country.
Please, take another look at these guys and give them your support. Every £1 counts, so you do not have to donate large amounts, and gift aid adds another 25%!!!
