Original Art for Sale – How to Purchase your Favourites from our Galleries.

I was asked last night by one of our blog members if they could buy one of the pieces of Art in our galleries. It suddenly occurred to me that I had not made this at all clear, so this post is designed to help you understand more fully the situation with regard to the work of our featured artists.

Sphere Land

Sphere Land by Isabelle Dermousis – hopefully the first of many pieces of art being purchased by members of this blog after seeing our galleries!

All of the people who have their art displayed in our main art gallery are members of deviantArt, and all the work displayed in this blog is ‘borrowed’ from deviantArt with the artists’ permission. All images in a person’s gallery can be found on deviantArt by clicking one of the links to their full dA galleries on the page. From here, you should be able to find the image that you like in their galleries and purchase it in various formats, as various prices from deviantArt, whereby the artist gets a commission (usually 20% of the price). If you have difficulties finding what you are looking for, please use the messaging facilities on this blog to contact me for help, or post a comment.

If a piece that you like is not available as a print, please remember that the artists are all friends of mine with whom I have regular contact, so I may be able to ask them if they can make them available for purchase.

If you would like me to obtain a picture on your behalf, then this can be arranged by contacting me via the Mintlaw Market group on this blog. I will obviously charge you any carriage that I incur on top of the price of the artwork, but this will be ‘at cost’. I am not trying to make money here, merely run a popular and successful company blog.

For those of you who are new to this blog, the entrance hall to our art gallery is here.

Another Friday Already? Must be “Into the Weekend”!

Once again, we extend a warm welcome to the listeners of Waves Radio, especially those of you who are listening to the “Into the Weekend” show which our company is proud to sponsor. We hope that, as well as trying to answer our “Where’s Waves?” question, you will spend a little time looking around this blog as I’m certain that you will find many items of interest here. I have posted a guide for new visitors from Waves, which can be found by clicking here. Continue reading

As indicated last night, I was looking to get some of the subscribers to this blog to submit their own artwork into the new ‘East Wing’ of our Virtual Art Gallery.

Within 24 hours, I am pleased to be able to announce that this area has officially been opened, courtesy of a submission of 12 photographs from user ‘Nigalius’ tonight!! Thanks for this Nigel!

Please take a look at his wonderfully varied photographs in the East Wing Gallery.

I really thought that I should make certain that you were made aware of another contributor to our new Art Gallery. I have just uploaded the most popular work of my friend Joe Maccer, who’s artwork is on the wall next to me as I type.

Please feel free to make comments on the work of all of the guys in the gallery. I’m certain that they would appreciate a ‘welcome’ from our regular readers!

Have you visited our Art Gallery yet?

One (of many) things in life that really annoys me is hearing people say that they have nothing to do. I, for one, could fill up another 24 hours added on to each day and still find that I am pushed for time.

If you really are at a loose end, why not take up some form of graphic art? There is so much free software available today (see links for downloads on the footer of this page), from which even individuals who consider that they can’t draw to save their lives, are able to produce images that are both appealing and interesting. We have been running this blog for a period of 2 months now and, in this time, we have made more than 50 postings and pages, and collected 3,000 hits and quite a few followers. I suppose that this could be considered a minor success, but we would very much like to make it even better.

The idea behind the blog was to make this an area where our customers could interact, pick up design tips, catch up on news about us and our other customers, and to be a repository for useful knowledge, clip art and other elements relating to design and graphical work.

In its current state, it is still very much in its infancy. So far we have run articles on the Rock Challenge and the Moonlight Prowl; posted a few tips about Graphic Art; uploaded a few bits of clip art; given news of a few special offers and a launched a competition. We hope now, that with your help, we can start to make it even more informative, relevant and useful.

We ask you, therefore, that now that you have seen what we are about, you might consider joining in by signing up and making suggestions as to the types of article that you feel would be useful both to yourselves and to others.

In the pipeline we have more articles about the Rock Challenge from our English schools, more Moonlight Prowl news, I will be doing a few tutorials on photomanipulation using GIMP and quite a bit more vector graphics in Inkscape. We will also be explaining about the different formats for bitmaps and their usage, a bit about RGB and CMYK colours…..and a whole lot more!

Unfortunately, I have no idea if you will find any of this to be useful, entertaining or informative so, please help us out by letting us know what articles you would like to see. You might even think of contributing Public Domain artwork to our gallery. Why not click on the ‘Members Log In’ button and sign up to being part of us?

A few Desktop / Laptop Wallpapers

In an effort to brighten up this blog, and to make it even more diverse in nature, I thought that I would share a few images with you that have been made using Free and Open Source software. This is the first batch – all fractal work. Feel free to download and use them as desktop wallpapers if you so desire, but please obey the conditions of the Creative Commons license.

As you can see, they can be used as backgrounds to blogs (Seamless Fire and Flood for example) or can be used on many of the items produced by our company.
