Introducing – Another of my DeviantART friends

It has been a little while since I added a new art gallery to our collection, largely owing to the fact that I have been trying to bring you something a little ‘different’. Today, I succeded  in convincing another of my friends from deviantART into displaying her work on this blog, and I am certain that you will agree that these photos are, indeed, different.

Gina Rouchy is not only a member of this blog, but also a culinary artist of a special kind – she builds and decorates what can only be described as ‘Cake Sculptures’. She does not work from any ‘patterns’ but makes each one by copying photos and models. I hope that you all give her page a visit and leave a few admiring comments. If you are a member, you might send her a message on here using her @gina tag, and order a special cake for this year’s Christmas festivities!

I am still looking for more of our members to contribute their own work to our East Wing galleries so, if you have 12 or more images that you think would make a good feature, please let me know.

Major Happenings in Pompyland – please read on….

Don’t worry, you’re not in the wrong place, it’s just that, as I am in a particularly good mood today, I have decided to temporarily adopt the company nomenclature bestowed upon us by our friend and radio station owner Mr Kenny King. Why the good mood you might think to yourself, “Is Mintlaw basking in sunshine with Sid giving out free beer at the shop?” I hear you asking. I think that you are aware that the chances of that happening are somewhere between the chances of me winning the lottery (see earlier posting) and none at all. So why the good mood?  Continue reading

Have you visited our Art Gallery?

New visitors to this blog may not be aware that we have an Art Gallery courtesy of some of my friends on deviantArt. The gallery can be visited by clicking on the ‘Art Gallery’ link on the right side of the menu bar under the header banner (the picture) on each page.

Members are invited to submit their own work to our galleries by sending me a note. If you have 12 or more photographs or pieces of digital art that you think might be suitable, send me a message using the newly introduced message functionality on here.

The gallery below can be used as a link to some of our current exhibits. Please leave your thoughts on them as comments.

It was revealed tonight that the PomPrint Art Gallery might be at risk of temporary closure owing to lack of security.

A spokesman for the Mintlaw-based embroidery and printing company revealed that their treasured Art Gallery, currently housed on a WordPress blog, might need to be closed for the next month owing to a problem with the availability of security staff. The Gallery, containing many priceless works of art, is available for viewing 24 hours a day, 7 days a weeks and, therefore, relies heavily on the services of a well-known security firm to keep these treasures safe. It would appear, however, that ‘for an unspecified period of time‘, the guards have had to be posted to ‘other duties‘.

It is hoped that the company will be able to recruit other security staff perhaps, even, from Her Majesty’s Armed Forces if necessary, to enable them to keep the gallery open. If this is not to be the case, it is recommended that the public make the most of the opportunity to view the works whilst time permits.

The head curator of the gallery confirmed the company’s angst, especially in light of the new exhibition that it opened only today, and said that it would ‘do everything in its power to keep this public service up and running‘. He added, “We have, over the last two weeks, introduced the public to the works of three very talented ladies, and hope that the public get their rightful opportunity to admire their works!”

The Gallery remains open, until further notice, and can be found here. Please make certain that you visit whilst the opportunity is still available to you!

You may have been wondering why I have not been making the usual frequency of posts on this blog over the last few days and thought that I had taken another well deserved holiday. Unfortunately, this is not the case, as I have been adding more stuff to our galleries instead, as I figured that it was time that they saw a bit more life!

The new additions are as follows:-

  1. More national flags in our clipart gallery for you to use.
  2. More fonts in our font gallery from which you can choose (all free fonts and can be found on the web).
  3. A new art exhibition from one of my friends on deviantArt.

I now intend to add a few more bits of clip art into our plants and object galleries, but would still appreciate any submissions from readers who have used my tutorials.

Very soon I am expecting a posting from a guest contributor about the Aberdeen Kettlebells competition. Hopefully this might inspire some more of you to contribute to the blog?

I would like to thank my facebook friends who have joined our happy little band tonight and have entered our competition to win £30 worth of goods from our catalogues. I hope that you will all take a look around this site and start to enjoy the benefits of membership.

As a member, you are now able to leave comments on our postings and, if you have an event to advertise (especially those for charitable causes), you will be allowed to make your own postings. If you are of an artistic nature you might take a look at some of our tutorials or event submit a gallery of your own work in the East Wing of our gallery. You are also invited to contribute to our clip art resources to help other members with their own work.

Last night we achieved 10,000 hits on the site (excluding members) since we started up at the end of January, and are currently averaging more than 100 hits per day. This means that your contributions will have a good chance of getting seen!! Happy

Very soon I will be introducing you to another charity that the company is supporting, this time in Cockermouth, Cumbria. I hope that you will give it the same kind of support that you gave to Mandy and her friends in Nottinghamshire earlier in the year. More details to follow in the next week or so.

Lastly, I would like to wish the teams from Fraserburgh and Westhill our best wishes for their performances in the Scottish Rock Challenge finals tomorrow night, especially as this will give me something else of local interest to report to you all. Good luck guys – Break a Leg!!
